Response #4- Ephemeral
Ephemeral New York is a blog that shows the history of New York City through pictures and descriptions. In the blog there’s facts from the 18th century that are related to present-day buildings or artifacts. All of the buildings and streets have a story and some more significant than others. For example, something such as simple as Starbucks was created 20 years ago. Even buildings that are now part of John Jay College are apart of history. As I recently discovered, the North Building of John Jay was once a shoe factory. It’s sad to say that I’ve lived in this city all my life and there are so many historical landmarks and artifacts that I still don’t know about. This is truly the city that never sleeps and seems to change over night. This blog really made me realize that it’s important to be aware of my surroundings because there are so many hidden stories within these streets.
